Schuylkill County court

Three people failed to appear for their preliminary hearings before District Judge Stephen Bayer on Nov. 15 and face having warrants issued for their arrests. Charges against them were bound over for county court trial.

Michael A. Tessitore, 32, of East Center Street, Nesquehoning, was due in court to answer to charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. The charges were filed by Coaldale patrolman Dane O'Brien after a July 21 incident.Tessitore was also charged with careless driving and failing to use required turn signals.Stephany Lynn Frantz, 27, of South Chestnut Street, Mount Carmel, missed her hearing on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. The charge stems from a June 3 incident and was filed by Tamaqua patrolman Thomas Rodgers.Daniel Lewis Stoudt Jr., 40, of Linden Street, Minersville, failed to appear for his hearing on charges of driving under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, driving without insurance, driving with a suspended registration, illegal use of a license plate and improper display of a license plate. The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Collin Leibensperger after a Sept. 10 incident.John Mercedes,38, of Saint Nicholas Street, New York City, elected to have his preliminary hearing before Judge Bayer. He was charged with theft of property by McAdoo patrolman Frederick Lahovski in connection with an incident that happened on June 1.The charge was bound over for trial in Schuylkill County Court.Mercedes was released on his own recognizance.Hearings waivedA number of defendants elected to waive their hearings directly to the county court. They are:Francis Carr, 55, of Four Seasons Drive, Drums, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and driving without rear lights. The charges were filed by McAdoo patrolman William Curilla after a July 2 incident.Carr was released on his own recognizance.Silas Alexa Plunkett Jr., 24, of East Broad Street, Hazleton, waived charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and failure to use the required lights. The charges stem from an Aug. 13 incident and were filed by McAdoo patrolman Curilla.Plunkett was released on his own recognizance.Sarah L. Quinones, 33, of West Second Street, Hazleton, faces charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and failure to stop at a stop sign. The charges were filed by McAdoo patrolman Curilla after an Aug. 5 traffic stop.Quinones was released on her own recognizance.Russell Nelson, 36, of Vine Street, Tamaqua, was charged with forgery, conspiracy to commit forgery, theft by deception, conspiracy to commit theft by deception and receiving stolen property for a Sept. 14 incident. The forgery and forgery conspiracy charges were withdrawn by the arresting officer, Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods.Nelson had his bail reduced from $5,000, 10 percent, to $5,000 unsecured, which allowed him to be freed from the Schuylkill County Prison.Alysha A. Barlet, 26, of Washington Street, Tamaqua, faces a charge of endangering the welfare of children, filed by Tamaqua Patrolman Richard Bekesy after an Aug. 8 incident.Barlet was released on her own recognizance.Stephanie Marie McEntee, 38, of West Atlantic Street, Shenandoah, waived charges of retail theft, receiving stolen property and driving with a suspended/revoked license. The charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Bradley Hess after a June 14 incident.McEntee was released on her own recognizance.Angelo Maldonado, 27, of East Union Street, Tamaqua, waived a charge of possession of a controlled substance, while charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and misbranding were withdrawn by the arresting officer, Tamaqua patrolman Matthew Houser. The charges stem from a Sept. 24 incident.Maldonado was released on his own recognizance.Sarah Fogarty, 34, of North Catherine Street, Shenandoah, will face trial on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. The charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Hess after a June 11 incident.Fogarty was released on her own recognizance.
