The Pleasant Valley School District is entering a new era, according to director of support services, Josh Krebs.

With the hiring of Barry Isett and Associates Inc. as engineer of record, the district will now have a wider variety of support at hand."We are very excited to have BIA on board," said Krebs. "With their help we can take a fresh look at all of our facilities, structural, mechanical and electrical and be able to plan long range. By being better prepared we can keep costs level for our taxpayers."The district received proposals from a number of firms in its search for an engineering firm. The list was narrowed down to three companies who were interviewed by the buildings and grounds committee and finally the firms gave presentations to the board at the buildings and grounds meeting on Monday evening.The other firms considered were D'Huy Engineering Inc. and Keystone Consulting Engineers.After hearing the presentations, the board discussed the pros and cons of all three firms and concluded that BIA was the best fit for what the district hoped to accomplish."We would be hard pressed to find another engineering firm with the in house resources of BIA," said Krebs. "They have everything covered, they don't have to subcontract out for anything.""Things are always going to break, but this way we will be better prepared to handle them. It is another way that we are working to be more responsible to the taxpayers."The fee schedule depends on what engineering specialty is used.
