Work on the bridge on Route 209 near Route 534 in Kresgeville is underway, with plans to conclude the last leg of the Pennsylvania Rapid Bridge Replacement Project by the end of the year.

“It’s one of the numerous structurally deficient bridges that needs to be replaced,” Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners spokesman Rory McGlasson said.

On Thursday morning, crew members were seen working on the installation of a temporary traffic light.

McGlasson said that the traffic light work should be done by June 11, and the entire project should be complete by the end of the year.

Initial work on the first lane will take approximately three to four months, while the other lane will be completed in a shorter time frame.

The bridge will remain open throughout the project.

“Essentially, when we start construction of the bridge, we are going to shift the traffic over that bridge across 209 to one lane that will alternate in each direction,” Mc­Glasson said.

Plenary Walsh Keystone Partners, working alongside Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, has already completed 16 of the 17 bridge replacement projects located in Monroe County.

Throughout the state, the public/private partnership has addressed 400 of 558 structurally deficient bridges so far.
