Lansford Alive will be unveiling three new entrance signs in the borough at 10 a.m. Monday. The unveiling will begin at the east end sign on Route 209, east of Nesquehoning.

"Many thanks to Main Street Lehigh Valley and the Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation for their help with this project. They have been extremely helpful to our organization and we look forward to working with them in the future," said Chris Ondrus, president of Lansford Alive.The current signs were deteriorating and in need of replacement. Lansford Alive applied for a matching grant through the Main Street Lehigh Valley Foundation of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and were successful in obtaining a $2,000 grant toward the project. Braun Bleamer of Jet Signs in Palmerton designed, manufactured and installed the signs, which capture the rich coal mining heritage of the area.Lorie Reinert, executive director of Main Street Lehigh Valley Foundation, said, "As our chamber grows, our 501c3 charitable arm is very happy to support our partners in Carbon, Lehigh, Northampton and Warren counties. No two communities are the same - we fund projects that visually contribute to each unique sense of place, and this project is a great example of the impact matching grant dollars can generate, especially when the community has great people like the volunteers associated with Lansford Alive."Marlyn Kissner said, "It is exciting to work with the Lansford Alive group on beautification projects like signage to help the area look attractive to support the surrounding businesses and residents. In addition, visitors to the area will experience a nice welcome as they enter Lansford."This is the second grant obtained by Lansford Alive. Last year, the group received funding to decorate the front of the borough hall for the Christmas season.Lansford Alive is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving Lansford with a mission to revitalize the traditional commercial district.
