Lansford man pleads to break-in

A Lansford man pleaded guilty to burglary and counts of simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia in three pending cases in Carbon County court and was immediately sentenced to a state prison term.

Paul C. Walck, 27, entered his pleas before Judge Steven R. Serfass and was sentenced to serve a total of 15 to 48 months in a state correctional institution on all the counts.Walck admitted entering the home of Brian Hill at 345 W. Bertsch St. in Lansford around Feb. 17; assaulting a woman on March 12 in a domestic incident along Bertsch Street in which he struck her about the face and neck; and drug possession for an incident on March 6, also along Bertsch Street in which police found heroin on his person.Walck told Serfass he had a drug addiction problem with heroin and hopes to get the help he needs in the state prison system."I do have a drug addiction. I hope I get the help I need up there."Serfass also ordered Walck to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, pay court costs of about $1,000, and render 200 hours of community service work when released on parole.He was given credit for 84 days already spent in prison on the charges.Walck was scheduled for trial Monday on the charges.
