Michalesko death ruled a suicide

The death of a 24-year-old Freeland woman in Jim Thorpe Borough earlier this year has been ruled a suicide.

According to the Carbon County Coroner’s Office, Chelsea Michaelsko died of a gunshot wound to the head.Michaelsko was found dead inside a vehicle along Route 209 in Jim Thorpe on March 21.Police responded to the scene around 11 p.m. for the report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.“The final ruling comes after months of extensive forensic investigation involving the Jim Thorpe Police Department, Carbon County District Attorney’s Office, Carbon County Coroner’s office and the State Police Bureau of Forensic Service,” Jim Thorpe Det. Lee Marzen said in a news release issued Wednesday.Michalesko worked as a Carbon County 911 dispatcher and was a member of the Freeland Community and the Lake Harmony Ambulance Services, and the Harwood Fire Department.
