Sale items range in price from $1 to $10."This is the first year that we've done a lot for clearance," she said.Selected styles of children's Sketchers, Hush Puppies and Soft Spots shoes are reduced 30 percent off. Men's and women's shoes, sneakers and work boots are 25 percent off and Under Armour items are on sale for 15 percent off, Balliet said. There are Polo shirts for $2, T-shirts for $3 and all clearance items are on sale for another 15 percent off.The clearance items include sporting goods, socks, sports socks and other similar goods, she said.Shea's is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.Employees at Hager Furniture and My Store said they are participating in the Sidewalk Days Sale, too, and many items will be moving to the sidewalks Thursday morning.Hager Furniture will be discounting a variety of furniture items as well as bedding and furniture by La-Z-Boy.My Store, located next the Bert's Steakhouse and Restaurant, will have various items throughout the store on sale. Most of the items are made by Carhart, Columbia and Under Armour.Although not a commercial retailer, the Heritage Center is getting in the act, too.Susan Steigerwalt, a volunteer at the center, said they will have items on sale and some giveaway items. She wasn't certain which items would be discounted and what would be free, because that was still being worked on, Steigerwalt said. But they carry throw blankets, Palmerton sweatshirts, New Jersey Zinc Co. ties, Christmas balls and postcards of sites in the borough."We have some new ones," she said. The postcards feature scenes from the Palmerton Area Library and the Palmerton Borough Park; photos by local photographer Lynn Shupp; a scene from Lehigh Gap Nature Center taken by Dan Kunkle, the executive director at the center; and a picture of the veterans memorial in Palmerton taken by Peter Kern, the president of the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce."Peter's pretty good," Steigerwalt said. "He's not a professional, but he has a good eye."One of Steigerwalt's favorite is a black and white picture of the park. The winter scene shows the stream flowing through it as well as the walkway that winds its way from one side to the other.
