Franklin Township man arrested in methamphetamine bust

A Franklin Township man has been charged after a two-month investigation into methamphetamine manufacturing in the township.

William Simon Billings, 42, of Long Run Road, was arrested without incident by agents with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office, Franklin Township Police, and the Carbon County Drug Task Force.Officers served a search warrant at Billings' home on Thursday. They found products used in methamphetamine production in a garage on the property, as well as outside the house.Items included sodium, lithium, Coleman fuel, lighter fluid, sulfuric acid, coffee filters, a used gas generator and several containers with unknown white residue.Producing meth can potentially create explosions, fire hazards and the release of toxic fumes.Police said that Billings and his wife, Jessica, both admitted to their role in the operation.Police said William Billings admitted to manufacturing meth on and off for over two years, and his wife admitted to purchasing pills containing pseudoephedrine, which is used in meth production.According to court documents, there were no charges filed against Jessica Billings as of Thursday.William Simon Billings faces four felony counts, including manufacturing a controlled substance, risking catastrophe, and illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste.He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge William Kissner.He was sent to Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
