Slatington woman faces charges after crash

A Slatington woman faces one charge of child endangerment following a crash.

Pennsylvania State Police at Bethlehem said Jill Uzdanovics, 36, was driving a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse north on Old Post Road at 3:43 p.m. Nov. 7.

Police said the collision occurred when the vehicle passed the intersection with Rising Sun Road as Uzdanovics was traveling at a speed too fast for the right curve in the roadway.

The vehicle crossed the center double yellow line and entered the southbound lane and began to rotate in a clockwise rotation, before re-entering the northbound lane.

The vehicle continued in a northeast direction, where it traveled off the northbound shoulder of the roadway, went up an embankment, became airborne and landed about 40 feet into a field east of the roadway.

The vehicle then traveled about 122 feet, overturning multiple times, before coming to final rest on all four wheels facing a northeast direction.

The passenger — a 3-year-old girl — suffered a serious injury. She was in a child safety seat.

Uzdanovics, who was not wearing her seat belt, sustained unknown injuries.

Uzdanovics faces charges on one count each of driving under the influence and endangering welfare of children, as well as three traffic summaries.

She is incarcerated in Lehigh County jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Lehigh County Court.
