Weatherly still has water advisory

A water boil advisory remains in effect in the Borough of Weatherly.

The borough apologized for the inconvenience in a notice on its website and social media page this week.

The boil advisory went into effect Monday after a routine test turned up coliform and E.coli. Crews also dealt with a water main break on Tuesday.

People are advised not to drink the borough water without boiling it first. Bottled or boiled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation.

A water buffalo remains at Eurana Park for residents to get fresh water.

“We are prioritizing our resources, tools and equipment where they are most urgently needed,” the borough said in a statement. “Chemical day tanks have been drained and cleaned. Equipment and lines in each of the well houses have been thoroughly inspected and cleaned or replaced, if in question.”

“We are aggressively addressing this situation and deeply appreciate your continued patience and understanding.”

The advisory will remain in effect until the borough is 100% confident the water is safe. Samples will be taken daily and must be clear of the bacteria for two days before the advisory can be lifted.

Borough Manager Tracy Grover said that one sample tested OK, and they are waiting for results of the second day of sampling.
