A 62-year-old Zionsville man reported a $2 million theft by deception incident to state police at the Fogelsville barracks.
Police said they were called to Geissinger Road, Upper Milford Township, at 2:46 p.m. Sept. 21 to investigate the incident.
They said the man had been speaking with two separate women over the course of several months through the WhatsApp and Telegram applications. The women instructed the man to download various applications on his phone.
They then asked him to transfer money from his bank account into the applications, which turn the money into virtual currency.
Police said the man transferred the funds into the accounts and has been unable to receive his money back.
