Tamaqua Borough Council recently agreed to apply for a state grant to assist the Tamaqua Community Ambulance Association.
At their September meeting, council members approved filing an application for a statewide Local Share Account grant for $81,830 to help fund a new emergency vehicle for the association.
The LSA grant program distributes funds from gaming revenue to community and economic development projects.

Also during the meeting, council approved:
• Waiving the $35 application fee for full-time police officer applications.
• Handicapped parking space application for 343 Hazle St.
• Appointing Kelly Gerber to the Board of Health.
• A request to close a portion of South Railroad Street on Dec. 5 for the annual Christkindl Market.
• A request from the Tamaqua Fire Police to hold a boot drop on Oct. 10.
• Granted permission to the C.H. Berry American Legion Post 173 to hold the Veterans Day parade on Nov. 7 on Broad Street.
