Lansford Borough is moving forward with a program to digitize rental licenses, and the code enforcement process, a councilman said Thursday.

Borough council approved a contract with Cloudpermit, a Virginia-based firm offering a cloud-based platform for various municipal processes including permits and complaints, in July.

The cost of the program is $5,300 including implementation, which Councilman John Zym said was being set up.

“We scheduled the introduction meeting, then the implementation meeting and we scheduled the training meetings,” he said. “My plan is to transition into the new system.”

“Training will be begin shortly,” Zym said.

The process to transition to the new system, which will allow the residents and property owners to apply and pay for licenses and permits online 24/7, is going as planned, he said.

“We established a “go live” date,” Zym said, but didn’t provide the further details. “I believe this inspection platform will make rental licensing inspections and the license process more efficient.’

Zym was asked about Cloudpermit at Wednesday’s special meeting by resident Erin Soberick, who administers a social media community page, and he told her that the process was moving along.

He refused to answer her question about whether the code officer Shane Monk was being trained or a follow-up question on why he wouldn’t answer.
