Palmerton Area School Board

The Palmerton Area School District Board of School Directors met Tuesday night, taking action on a range of financial, personnel and programmatic matters. Approved items include:

• Minutes from the Aug. 18 board meeting.

• An agreement with Romano DJ Service for the high school Homecoming Dance on Oct. 17 at a cost of $500.

• School supply donations from the Covered Bridge Inn to Parkside, S.S. Palmer and Towamensing elementary schools, and from Neff’s Bank to all district schools.

• Additional mentors for two teachers: Ashley Hummer for Emily Sangiuliano, and Michael Gombert for Michael Noyola, each at $1,535 prorated for the applicable portion of the school year.

• Additional club adviser stipends for Caitlin Goldberg for Jazz Band at $2,258; Kevin Wertz for High School Student Council at $2,093, prorated; and Hannah Citron as Stage Crew assistant adviser at $1,710, prorated.

• Timothy Kleintop as a substitute nurse at prevailing substitute rates.

•An agreement with Mary Ann Wright for instructional leadership coaching for the 2026-27 school year.

• Field trip requests for the FBLA State Workshop at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Pocono Manor on Nov. 1-2; the Golf PIAA State Championships at Penn State University Golf Courses in State College on Oct. 18-21; the boys wrestling team tournament at Rocky Top Sports World in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, on Dec. 3-7; and the boys wrestling team tournament at Carlisle High School on Dec. 11-12.

• First readings of four policies required under Act 20: Policy 102 (Academic Standards); Policy 204.2 (Virtual Attendance and Wellness Checks); Policy 246 (School Wellness) and Policy 249 (Bullying/Cyberbullying); The policies will be brought back for final adoption at a future meeting.
