The Schuylkill County Conservancy received a $4,507 grant from the Pennsylvania Society for Ornithology (PSO) for its participation in the 2026 Breeding Bird Blitz and its role as a conservation partner with PSO.
Julia Sophy, president of the conservancy, thanked those who donated $1,113 to help fund the Bird Blitz and other PSO projects.
The contributions helped the conservancy meet grant requirements.
She also thanked Dave Kruel and his team of surveyors for their expertise and dedication during the Bird Blitz event.
The grant will support public educational programs focused on the importance of birds and their habitats.
The conservancy is particularly targeting youth through its educational efforts, with the goal of increasing awareness, appreciation and understanding of local birdlife and conservation.
