State police at the Frackville barracks were summoned to investigate an armed robbery that took place between 7:55 and 8:03 a.m. Friday at a gas station/convenience store in West Mahanoy Township.

Police said a suspect entered the Speedway Gas Station, South Lehigh Avenue and displayed a firearm at the time. The man then ran away from the scene,

He is described as wearing a face-covering, black back pack, a gray hooded sweatshirt and black Nike sweatpants.

Police said a possible vehicle involved in the incident is described as being a white colored sedan. It fled south on Route 61, they said.

Police did not indicate whether or not the armed robber made off with anything.
