Wreaths Across America, the national nonprofit best known for placing more than 3 million veterans’ wreaths at over 5,000 locations across the United States and abroad on National Wreaths Across America Day, will bring its Mobile Education Exhibit to Miller-Keystone Blood Center’s Bethlehem location from noon to 6 p.m. on Sept. 1.

The visit is part of WAA’s year-round mission to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and their families, and teach the next generation the value of freedom. Miller-Keystone Blood Center is located at 1465 Valley Center Parkway, Bethlehem.

“The Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit provides a unique opportunity for communities to come together and share the stories of those who served and sacrificed,” said Karen Worcester, executive director of Wreaths Across America. “Through our partnership with the United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, the exhibit also serves as an official ‘Welcome Home’ location for our nation’s Vietnam veterans.”

The MEE brings veterans, active-duty military personnel, their families and members of the local community together through interactive exhibits, short films and shared stories. The mobile museum educates visitors about the service and sacrifice of America’s military heroes while also serving as an official welcome-home station for Vietnam veterans.

Veterans, active-duty service members, military families and community members are invited to tour the exhibit and speak with WAA representatives and volunteers. Visitors can learn more about the national nonprofit and the year-round work its volunteers perform in support of veterans, military families and their communities.

Members of the media, dignitaries, veterans’ organizations and other interested groups are also encouraged to attend, ask questions, share stories and experience the one-of-a-kind exhibit.

Individuals may sponsor a veteran’s wreath at any time in support of the local WAA program. Each sponsorship funds a live balsam wreath that will be placed on the headstone of an American hero as part of National Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 19. While visiting the Mobile Education Exhibit, community members may also donate blood at Miller-Keystone Blood Center’s Bethlehem donor center. Appointments can be scheduled at GIVEaPINT.org, by calling 800-B-A-DONOR (800-223-6667), ext. 2, by scanning the event QR code or through the MKBC mobile app, available for Android and Apple devices. Appointments are encouraged, but walk-in donors will be accepted as time permits.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, which was begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s mission — Remember, Honor, Teach — is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as thousands of veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.
