Jim Thorpe Area School District’s board of directors voted 7-0 Thursday night to immediately terminate a district employee, with one member abstaining and one absent, taking the action without public discussion or explanation.

Director Sierra Fogal abstained while Michele Mazzola was absent.

The board approved an adjudication containing findings of fact and conclusions of law terminating the employment of “Employee No. 0006” and authorized board president Dennis McGinley to sign the document on behalf of the board.

Before the meeting was called to order, the board met in executive session to discuss personnel issues, litigation and contracts.

When the item came before the board during the public meeting, no member commented on the reasons for the termination before or after the roll call vote.
