State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crash:

• Malachi O. Smith, 20, of New Tripoli, was charged with accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property following a one-vehicle crash at 12:45 a.m. on July 27 on Route 22 in South Whitehall Township.

Police said he was driving a 2010 Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the car and it struck a fence on the right side of the road and then fled the scene.

They said the car had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, while the fence had substantial damage.

• Bridget M. Nagle, 24, of Northampton, and Ashley M. Matthew, 35, of Slatington,were involved in a two-vehicle crash at 12:56 p.m. on July 29 at the intersection of Airport Road North and Snyders Church roads, East Allen Township. Police said they both refused emergency medical services at the scene.

They said the crash occurred when Nagle was driving a 2021 Subaru Forester and was stopped at a stop sign on Snyders Church Road. She told police a truck passed her vehicle, after which time she traversed into the intersection and hit a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek driven by Matthew.

Police said both vehicles had disabling damage and were towed from the scene.

Nagle was cited for failure to yield upon approaching or entering an intersection, according to police.

• Sandra A. Meleski, 41, of Slatington, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:01 p.m. on April 2 on Mountain Road, Washington Township.

Police, in a report issued on Aug. 12, said the severity of her injuries were unknown and she was transported by personnel from the Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 GMC Yukon eastbound when she lost control of the vehicle and it left the roadway on the right side, traveled for about 350 feet and hit numerous bushes, signs and small trees before becoming wedged between two trees. The Yukon was towed from the scene.

Meleski was cited after the crash, according to police.

• Abdiel D. Rivera, 27, of Catasauqua, was cited for following too closely after a three-vehicle pileup at 7:33 a.m. on July 28 on Airport Road, Hanover Township.

Police said Rivera was driving a 2011 BMW 328i southbound when the car struck the back of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Randy D. Deshon, 77, of Slatington, that was slowing down, causing it to hit a 2015 Nissan Rogue operated by Annette T. MacDonald, 51, of Bath.

The BMW had disabling damage and was towed from the scene, according to police.

• Daniel J. Dickman, 67, and Jamie L. Gable, 43, both of Lansford, were injured after a two-vehicle crash at 8:48 p.m. on Aug. 4 on Route 873 in Washington Township.

Police said they were transported by personnel from Northern Valley Emergency Medical Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Phillip J. Gintz, 52, of Neffs, was driving a 2006 Ford F-350 that struck the rear of a 2008 Ford F-350 operated northbound by Gable. They said both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Gable was cited for following too closely, according to police.
