Work on Coaldale’s sewer system recently wrapped up.

“As you know, the sewer project that was going on in town is now completed,” Mayor Daniel Weiskner said at Tuesday’s monthly borough council meeting.

He thanked residents for their cooperation and patience.

“There were a couple of phases where they were doing the flushing and cameraing, and then they came back to do the sock lining,” Weiskner said.

More than 3¼ miles of sewer lines were flushed and scoped with cameras, he noted. In addition, he said, about 1¼ mile of piping was sock-lined, or coated with an epoxy-type resin.

“In addition to that, I think there were five places where they actually dug and replaced sewer lines,” Weiskner said. “Most of them were at intersections.”

Those areas were paved.

“So that project is complete in our town,” Weiskner said.

Coaldale, Lansford and Summit Hill, along with the Coaldale-Lansford-Summit Hill Sewer Authority, each committed $350,000 toward an approximate $2.5 federal million grant to help fund work on the aging system that serves the three municipalities.

Similar work is being done in Lansford and Summit Hill.
