West Penn Township has a new website.

While the web address is the same at www.westpenntownship.org, its appearance is entirely different.

“I guess you can say the new website is fresher, it doesn’t look anything like the old one,” supervisor Kyle Kester said.

Unlike the previous website, it is searchable.

“You can look for stuff instead of clicking all over the place,” he said.

Visitors can find forms and ordinances on the site, and can learn about emergency services and recreational opportunities. A calendar lists events and a history of the township is included.

Other matters

In other business, the board accepted a bid of $22,700 from DE Gemmill for yellow, reflective paint to line Dairy, Zion Stone Church, St. Peter’s, School, Pine Hill, Archery Club, Mush Dahl, Kepner and Mantzville roads, and Blue Mountain Drive. It was the lowest of three bids received.

Also, Tamaqua Area School District Superintendent Ray Kinder, who will retire on Aug. 25, thanked the township for their support.

“We haven’t had many occurrences to have to rely upon each other, but when we do it’s a great relationship,” he told the supervisors.

Kinder thanked the West Penn Township Police Department, Penn Mahoning Ambulance and West Penn Township Fire Company for aiding the district staff and students.

He singled out township Roadmaster Jeremy Frable in his thanks.

“Jeremy, you have the thankless job because we text each other at 4 o’clock in the morning” to discuss winter storm probability and road conditions, Kinder said. “I just want to thank everyone for what they do for the township, what they do to support the school district and know that I appreciate it.”
