Sew What Quilt Guild preparing for annual bingo

The Sew What Quilt Guild will host its monthly meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Friday in the upstairs gallery at the Palmerton Area Library. Local quilters and fabric arts enthusiasts are invited to attend.

During the meeting, Kathy Augustine will be showing some of her collection of sock monkeys.

Tickets for the Quilt Bingo also will be available for pick up to sale.

At the guild’s Sept. 4 meeting, members will be preparing for the bingo on Sept. 20. Donations for prizes should be turned in no later than the Sept. 4 meeting.

They also will have a basket raffle at bingo. If you want to make a basket, bring it to this meeting. If you have items that can be used in a basket, please bring them along.

Sign-ups for working at the bingo or food donations will take place as well.

Looking toward the Christmas season, members are asked to save empty paper towel rolls for making gnome Christmas ornaments during the October meeting. They will be sold at the Quilted Crow. All profits will benefit Family Promise.

The guild’s Dec. 4 meeting will be at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church at the corner of Fifth and Lafayette avenues in Palmerton for a Christmas Tea. You must preregister and pay by the November meeting. Bring a wrapped ornament or small gift for the exchange.

During one of the guild’s future wintertime meetings, Terri Sheckler will teach members to do a collage of a pet. Look for an 8x10 picture of a pet or an animal to use for this class.

If you have any travel-size toiletries, like those from hotel stays, please bring them to the meeting or drop them off at the library.

For more information about attending the meeting or joining the Sew What Quilt Guild, please contact Terri Sheckler: 570-386-5242 or Brenda Wentz: 610-216-2165.
