A man, arrested after a cyber tip led state police to a Lansford home, was sentenced Tuesday to 16 months to four years in state prison.

Cody Girard Broad, 32, of Lansford, pleaded guilty on July 21 in Carbon County Court to a single second-degree felony count of dissemination of photo or film of child sex acts.

Three counts were dismissed under the negotiated plea: criminal use of a communication facility, a third-degree felony, and two misdemeanor counts of sexual intercourse with an animal, according to the docket.

Broad had been held at Carbon County Prison since Aug. 19, 2025, the day after his arrest.

Carbon County Judge Roger Nanovic attached several conditions to Broad’s sentence. Broad must give a blood sample at the county correctional facility and complete a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation within 60 days.

“Defendant shall supply the Pa. State Police with fingerprints, photograph and register under Megan’s Law,” the sentencing order states.

The charges date to Nov. 28, 2023. Trooper Matthew S. Kelly of the state police Bureau of Criminal Investigation filed the complaint on Aug. 18, 2025.

State police, according to an affidavit of probable cause, received a CyberTip report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in November 2023 about a Snapchat user uploading images and videos depicting apparent child abuse material.

The video showed an adult placing a dog in front of a naked girl’s genitals, court papers said.

Investigators traced the upload to Broad through a subpoena served on the Internet service provider in March. Lansford police told investigators they had contact with Broad in 2022 over a protection from abuse order at the same East Ridge Street address.

A search warrant served at the property turned up images and videos of apparent child abuse material on a device belonging to Broad, according to the affidavit. Investigators found dozens of such files on cellphones, with one device holding 87 files, according to court papers.

Several videos were found on Broad’s phone showing him engaged in a sexual acts with two different dogs, court papers said.

Broad, court records state, owes $1,161.96 in costs and fees.
