West Penn Township’s road crew will soon start resurfacing a portion of Andreas Road.

And to do so, they will use materials donated by Lehigh Asphalt.

At Monday’s supervisors’ meeting, township Roadmaster Jeremy Frable shared word on the donation.

“It was very generous of them to donate the materials to fix the road,” Frable said.

He noted that Lehigh Asphalt officials learned that the road leading from the Andreas Post Office toward Quarry Road was in poor shape following last year’s Andreas Halloween Parade. The condition of the road made it difficult for children and others to navigate.

“It’s pretty rutted up from all the trucks,” Frable said.

He said the company will donate enough materials to resurface the road from an area near the Andreas Post Office toward the quarry.

The road isn’t the only one being resurfaced by the township crew.

So far this year, paving has been completed on Valley Park Estates roads, Valley Road, Oak Lane, Evergreen Drive, Hemlock Road, Valley Park Road between Route 443 and Golf Road, Lumber Lane, Retreat Road between Route 895 and Blue Mountain Drive, Retreat Village, Whitetail Circle and Glory Road.

Roads eyed for paving before the end of this year include Retreat and Winter Mountain roads.
