Anthracite downed Towamensing in the opening game of the Panther Valley 11-12 Little League tournament on Sunday.

Anthony Colancecco and Austin Schaffer both had two hits to help Anthracite gain an 8-2 victory over Towamensing.

Colancecco scored a pair of runs for the winners, who used a five-run fifth inning to pull away, while Schaffer scored a run and knocked in one.

Ayden Diaz added a triple and two RBIs, while winning pitcher Owen Demanovich tossed four innings and struck out 10. Starter Liam McCormick tossed two scoreless frames and fanned four.

For Towamensing, Lucas Sutton had two hits — one a double — and scored a run. Robert Kromer added a hit and an RBI.
