The northbound lanes of the Pennsylvania Turnpike were closed Friday morning after a tractor-trailer crashed in Penn Forest Township. The crash occurred just after 9 a.m. at the 81.8 mile marker. The rig hit the concrete center barrier, sending large chunks of concrete into the southbound lanes. The tractor-trailer then crossed the northbound lanes and the cab rolled onto its side. The driver escaped injury. Franklin Township firefighters maintained traffic control at the scene, shutting down the northbound lanes and helping with the cleanup. The southbound lanes were reduced to one lane because of the concrete debris on the roadway. State police at the Pocono barracks are investigating the crash.
