Five Carbon County 4-Hers attend camp to make connections
Last month, 70 4-H members and various leaders from seven counties gathered at Seven Mountains Scout Camp in Spring Mills for a week of fun, adventure and connection.
Carbon County was represented by 4-Hers Jack McCormick, Taylee Keck, Mia Graver, Sophia Sacks and Cadence Graver.
This year’s camp theme was “Red, White, Blue & You!”
Throughout the week campers participated in activities such as arts and crafts, lakefront boating, fishing, pool, nature hikes, and more. 4-H project time revolved around the 250th anniversary of America; while curriculum options taught about citizenship, patriotic food, history of the water ways and education on the original ways of living in the frontier.
Jack McCormick, a leader in training, who served on the teen staff team, said, “One of my favorite things about camp this year was getting to be around kids my age. This year I was an LIT, so I got to lead some activities for the campers and help them out. This was my third year at camp, and I plan on coming back next year.”
Cadence Graver, who has attended camp for the past two years, said her favorite part “was trying new things and spending time with friends. I really liked the campfire. We sang songs, laughed a lot and made s’mores together. It was so much fun, and I can’t wait to go back next year!”
4-H is open to all young people ages 5-18 regardless of where they live, what their background is, or what interests them.
