Hunter Hill had two hits, one a double, and knocked in two runs to help Tamaqua defeat Jim Thorpe 10-4 and advance to the championship round.
Tamaqua will face Franklin Township on Tuesday, and will need to win that contest to force a winner-take-all title matchup on Wednesday. A FT victory would give it the championship. The two teams played earlier in the tournament, with Franklin gaining a narrow 8-7 win.
Camdyn Lux and George Pinkey both added a double and knocked in two runs for Tamaqua, while Pinkey also scored three runs. Braxton Barrett also contributed a pair of hits and two runs.
After the winners took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, they tacked on three more runs in the third with two of them scoring on Lux’s double. Pinkey’s two-base hit in the sixth scored two more to give his team a commanding advantage.
Thorpe tried to rally from the huge deficit in the home sixth, as Patrick B delivered a bases-loaded triple and eventually scored on an error, but the comeback ended there as a fielder’s choice groundout followed.
Mason Keich chipped in with a hit and an RBI for Tamaqua, while Luke Tuckett finished with a hit and a run. Jim Thorpe also received hits from both Ben Swanson and Liam Kattner.

West End-Stroudsburg
West End nearly came all the way back from a six-run deficit, but its comeback fell just short and it was eliminated from the tournament with a 6-5 defeat on Sunday.
Stroudsburg only had two hits in the first inning, but combined those with four walks, two errors and a hit by pitch to race out to a 6-0 advantage.
There was no quit, though, with West End as it chipped away at that lead.
Lawson Bower’s fielder’s choice plated Nick Moore in the home second to get West End on the board. In the fourth, a Stroudsburg error allowed Noah Maynard — who had walked — to reach home to make it 6-2.
An inning later, Dave Vanderah singled and eventually scored on a hit off the bat of Bower.
Down to its final at-bat, West End received a two-run triple from Anthony Grando to pull within a run. Grando then tried to score on an infield grounder, but was thrown out at the plate to prevent the tying run from crossing.
West End’s other hits came from Moore, Noah Triolo and Brian Cerino.
Reliever Lukas Wamba turned in a stellar effort on the mound to give his team a chance to rally. He tossed 5 2/3 innings, allowed just one unearned run and struck out two.
