The Reading & Northern Railroad is partnering with a Schuylkill County animal shelter to help find forever homes for rescued animals.
The Port Clinton-based railroad is sponsoring a “Hop on Home” animal adoption event Saturday and Sunday and April 25 and 26 with the Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA in Pine Grove.
Through the event, Reading & Northern will cover all adoption fees for anyone seeking to give rescued animals safe and loving homes.
Visit the SPCA at 18 Wertz Drive to meet animals and submit an application to https://www.rsmspca.org.
The shelter is asking for preapproved applications, which can be emailed, mailed or submitted in person.
Applications are available from the shelter’s website and Facebook page.
“I am proud to once again play a small part in ensuring that these wonderful animals are given a chance to be adopted into caring families and homes,” Reading & Northern owner Andy Muller said. “We have rescued numerous animals along the tracks of the Reading & Northern Railroad over the years. It is only right that we continue to extend such efforts into our surrounding communities.”
