Sew What Quilt Guild works on baskets, projects
The Sew What Quilt Guild will meet at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Palmerton Area Library. The meeting will be held upstairs in the library’s Gallery.
Members who have not yet dropped off their patriotic wall hangings are asked to bring it to the meeting or deliver it to the library beforehand. Participants in the quilt block contest must return their completed block at the meeting.
The guild is also preparing for a basket raffle at the library. Baskets may feature any theme, but alcohol is not permitted. All baskets must be completed and turned in by the April meeting.
Members may gather items from local businesses, use personal supplies or contribute items to another basket. Monetary donations are also accepted to help purchase items for a basket valued at a minimum of $35.
Members who need assistance with wrapping may bring their basket to the April meeting, and wrapping will be done together afterward. The raffle will run through the Airing of the Quilts on May 2, with proceeds split equally with the library. Members are encouraged to stay after the meeting to help wrap any remaining baskets. Members are also asked to bring travel-size toiletries, such as those from hotel stays, to the meeting or drop them off at the library.
Donations for Quilts for Kids are welcome and should be brought to the April meeting.
Members interested in selling or displaying quilted items at the Airing of the Quilts on May 2 can find required forms at the Quilted Crow or online at www.theairingofthequilts.com.
Volunteers are needed to sell quilt raffle tickets. Those interested should contact Judy Borger at borger.judy@gmail.com. The guild’s annual summer picnic will be held during the July meeting on July 10. Additional details will be announced closer to the date.
Members who would like to include an item in the guild display at the Carbon County Fair, scheduled for Aug. 3-8, should contact Terri. Volunteers are also needed to assist with the guild banner.
The meeting will conclude with Show ’N Tell, and members are encouraged to bring recent projects to share.
