State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• A 36-year-old Long Pond man is facing charges of driving under the influence and drug possession after police made a traffic stop at 4:24 p.m. on March 22.
He was stopped in a 2011 Cadillac on Commercial Boulevard in Tobyhanna Township.
• A 37-year-old West Hazleton man is facing drug possession charge after police made a traffic stop at 11:50 p.m. on March 21.
He was stopped in a 2020 Honda Accord on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.
• Rhonda Hatton, 66, of Jim Thorpe, was charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, simple assault by menace, simple assault and harassment by physical contact after police responded to an incident at 2:59 p.m. on March 22 at on Chestnut Lane, Penn Forest Township.
Police said Hatton assaulted a live-in relative and her boyfriend.
Police said they engaged in a verbal argument that turned physical when Hatton struck the woman in the face, causing bruising, and then punched and the man in the face, then stabbed him with scissors, spit in his face and threatened him with a baseball bat.
Police said Hatton was taken into custody and transported to the Carbon County Correctional Facility, Nesquehoning.
• A 39-year-old Effort woman is the victim of a theft by deception/wire fraud incident police responded to at 7:37 p.m. on March 2 on Timothy Drive, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said during their investigation it was revealed three black/Hispanic females were observed on video surveillance using the victim’s card at the Walmart in Bensalem. They said one of the women has been identified.
• Police responded to a report of harassment at 4:35 p.m. on March 21 at a property on Bayberry Road, Chestnuthill Township.
They said the victim is a 15-year-old boy from Effort, who told police that a group of middle-school-age boys pushed him off his bicycle. The boy did not suffer any injuries from the incident.
