State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• A 39-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman, both from Jim Thorpe, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to an “ongoing tenant issue” at 4:45 p.m. March 23 on Chestnut Lane, Penn Forest Township.
Police said the two were involved in a physical altercation with a 62-year-old man from Boyertown.
• A 37-year-old Tobyhanna man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 5:07, p.m. Feb. 2.
He was stopped in a 2025 Buick Envision for a registration plate issue on Interstate 80 east in Kidder Township. Police said the plate registration query came back indicating that it belonged to a 1991 Cadillac. They said the Envision was towed from the scene.
• Police are investigating the theft of about 200 feet of 2-inch copper pipe from a site in Jackson Township.
They were called to the Golden Slipper Camp, 164 Reeders Run Road, and were told the pipe was stolen from the area between a wellness center and a lower baseball field at the campground.
Police said the pipe has an estimated value of $2,000.
• Police are investigating a ChildLine report of a suspected indecent assault incident.
They said that during an interview with Children and Youth Services personnel it was alleged that the sexual abuse of a child took place between Jan. 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2020, in Parish Park, Chestnuthill Township.
• A 52-year-old Effort man was cited for two Dog Law violations after police responded to Adie Drive, Chestnuthill Township, at 6:30 p.m. March 26.
Police said an 11-year-old boy from Effort who is the neighbor of the suspect was bitten by the latter’s dog.
• An 18-year-old man from Manorville, New York, is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after police responded to an incident at 10:26 p.m. Feb. 20 at the intersection of State and Sugar Hollow roads, Chestnuthill Township.
Police said they responded to a report of a vehicle off the road and found the driver of a 2013 Hyundai Elantra having shown signs of impairment.
• Police responded to a death report at 11:39 a.m. March 15 at a property on Amy Lane, Chestnuthill Township.
They said a 72-year-old woman from Brodheadsvlle was discovered deceased in her residence, the death having been due to natural causes.
It is believed she died between March 9 and 15, police said.
