Panther Valley School Board

The Panther Valley School Board moved through routine business Wednesday night.

Personnel

The board accepted the resignation of Janet Fisher, director of technology, effective at the end of the year.

Superintendent Dave McAndrew said the position has been posted, and he hopes to see a replacement hired next month.

Other personnel moves included hiring Maricruz Ruiz as a part-time general worker/floater in the elementary school cafeteria, retroactive to March 5, at a rate of $16.89 an hour, and Hailey White as paraprofessional at the current contract rate.

The board also approved Richard Evanko, Melissa Schoenberger and Racheal Albert attending conferences at a total cost of $241.05, and three-credit courses for Evanko, Maria Wozniak and Mason George.

Other business

In other business, the board approved:

• Payment of bills totaling $3,661,121.76, and cafeteria bills totaling $423,769.44.

• The sponsorship of a $100 advertisement in the 2026 Carbon County Sports Hall of Fame Program.

• A resolution for the Ready to Learn Tax Equity supplement, which will be used to pay down the district’s debt service.

• The operation of the summer food service program under the Seamless Summer Option.

• An intergovernmental agreement for special education services with Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21.

• A subscription license agreement with the CLIU 21.

• School Director Anthony DeMarco as the district’s representative on the CLIU board of directors from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2029.

• The Panther Valley JSHS School Program of Studies, the 2026-29 K-12 Guidance Plan, and the 2026-27 school calendar.

• Spring workers list for 2025-26 school year.

• The date for graduation as June 5 at the Panther Valley Stadium.

• The second reading and revision of policies on meetings, nondiscrimination — students with disabilities, discipline of students with disabilities, attendance, weapons, purchases, emergency preparedness, relations with law enforcement, and school security.

• The first reading of policies on exemption from instruction, extracurricular activities, non-curriculum-related, nonschool sponsored student initiated groups, and district social media.
