Kristen L. Cruver, 23, of Lehighton, was injured in a three-vehicle crash at 7:37 p.m. March 11 at mile marker 67.8 of the Northeast extension in Washington Township.
State police at the Pocono barracks said she was transported by personnel from the Northern Valley ambulance to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.
They said she was driving a 2011 Nissan Cube northbound when she lost control of it on the wet roadway.
The car struck a rock embankment, crossed both travel lanes and struck the concrete center barrier, and the crossed both lanes a second time, striking another rock embankment.
Police said when the car reentered the roadway it was struck by a 2022 Freightliner driven by Mikenson Charles, 34, of Miami Gardens, Florida, which struck a 2024 Jeep Compass operated by Clara M. Penn-Robinson, 27, of Wilmington, Delaware, pushing it into the center barrier.
Police said Cruver was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
Charles and Penn-Robinson were not hurt in the pileup.
