Two Berks County men were sent to prison on charges related to the Dec. 15 robbery of a store in Rush Township.
Garicin Moore, 40, of Bernville, was committed to the Berks County Prison on $200,000 cash bail following his arraignment this week before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua. Moore had been in the Berks prison on other charges.
His alleged accomplice, Ashton Dinkel, 36, of Bernville, was charged with robbery and sent to the Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 cash bail.
According to state police, troopers were called to Sam’s Place Lottery and Tobacco at the Hometown Commons shopping center at 9:24 p.m. for a robbery. Police said a man pulled a gun and asked the clerk to empty the cash register. The man fled on Route 309 with $2,914.
Police determined that Moore robbed the store while Dinkel served as the getaway driver.
Police charged Moore with robbery-threat of serious injury; robbery-take property; aggravated assault with deadly weapon; theft by unlawful taking; firearms not to be carried without license; possession of weapon; and simple assault.
