February 17, 2011 — Panther Valley graduate Allysa Vavra captures first place at the Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in the 200 yard Individual Medley. Vavra, swimming for Indiana University, turns in a time of 1:57.01 to edge her teammate Ashley Jones and set a pool record at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center on the campus of Indiana University. Vavra, a four-time Times News Swimmer of the Year, also becomes the first Hoosier to ever win the Big Ten 200 IM event.
