Super Bowl bingo benefits church projects

Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Lehighton held its annual Super Bowl Bingo on Sunday afternoon in the parish hall at 307 Coal St.

The afternoon featured 24 bingo games, plus door prizes and other games, with proceeds benefiting the parish. A cash raffle to benefit the parish’s Backyard Bash was awarded as well.

Norine Onichimowski led the kitchen team in cooking and selling hamburger barbecue, haluski, french fries, pierogies, hot dogs, plus drinks and snacks.

“This is a record number of people,” Phil Liszka, the bingo coordinator, said. The hall was packed, and additional tables needed to be set up to accommodate them all.

Plans are already in the works for the Super Bowl Bingo in 2027, scheduled to be held Feb. 14, 2027, also St. Valentine’s Day.

“We are planning special games to link Valentine’s Day and the Super Bowl to award special prizes for the game,” Liszka said.
