Weatherly captured wins in both boys and girls basketball action on Thursday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Palmerton-Weatherly

A big second half allowed Weatherly to pull out a 57-54 non-league victory over Palmerton in both team’s regular-season finale.

Corbin Wagner scored 19 of his game-high 21 points over the final two quarters as the Wreckers erased a six-point halftime deficit. Ian McKeegan also contributed nine of his 19 points in the final frame as Weatherly took a lead it wouldn’t relinquish.

The Bombers’ Cameron Pengelly netted 19 points in a losing effort, while Kurt Jedrejczyk finished with 12.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

CMVT-Weatherly

Weatherly ended a four-game losing skid as the Wreckers posted a 36-25 non-league victory over Columbia-Montour Vo-Tech.

Kelly Reiner had the hot hand in the first half, in which the Wreckers took a comfortable 20-5 lead. Reiner registered 11 of her game-high 14 points during the first two quarters.

Maci Kane added to the winning cause with 10 points.

The Rams received a team-high nine points from Clara Guyer.

SWIMMING

Marian-Tamaqua

Marian and Tamaqua split their Schuylkill League meet in both team’s finale.

The visiting Colts edged the Blue Raiders by a 59-56 score, while the Tamaqua girls cruised to a 105-30 victory over the Fillies.

The Raiders’ Savannah Wilson won two individual events, and was also honored for reaching 1,000 career points. Wilson captured the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Tamaqua’s Janna Brown and Shaylee Gormley also won a pair of races. Brown touched first in both the 100 and 200 freestyle, while Gormley took both the 200 IM and 100 butterfly.

For the Fillies, Lydia Strucko set a new pool record in the 100 backstroke, posting a time of 58.90.

In the boys meet, the Colts gained multiple wins from both Michael Strucko (200 freestyle, 100 backstroke) and Andrew Metters (50 and 100 freestyle).

Tamaqua firsts came from Aidan Elston (500 freestyle) and Brandon Temarantz (100 breaststroke).
