Local Roundup: Results from Feb. 3

The Northwestern and Lehighton girls both finished their regular season schedules with wins on Tuesday.

The Tigers downed Freedom, while the Indians defeated Jim Thorpe.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Freedom-Northwestern

Northwestern rolled to a 50-23 non-league victory over Freedom in its regular season finale.

Natalie Conner scored 13 of her game-high 26 points in the opening quarter to help the Tigers gain a 15-2 start.

Charlotte Gober added seven points to the winning effort, while the Patriots received a team-high seven points from Sara Kokulus.

Lehighton-Jim Thorpe

Lehighton posted its 20th win of the season, ending the regular season with a 51-27 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.

The Indians had three players reach double-digit scoring, led by Brielle Parliman’s 12 points.

Ryleigh Trotman added 11 points for the winners, while Olivia Serfass finished with 10.

Thorpe’s Ciara Lees ended with a team-high 10 points.

Marian-Shenandoah Valley

Shenandoah Valley registered a 64-53 Schuylkill League win over visiting Marian.

Ethan Bench tallied 18 of his game-high 20 points in the second half for the Blue Devils, who led by six at halftime.

The winners also received 11 points from Alex Rivera.

Greg Tirpak paced the Colts with 13 points, while Justin De La Cruz and Jake Tom both ended with nine.

North Schuylkill outscored Tamaqua in the second half to claim a 48-43 win.

The Blue Raiders were up by two points at halftime, but a 13-7 third quarter by the Spartans allowed the visitors to take the lead.

North Schuylkill’s Cameron Kacilowicz led all scorers with 16 points, while Xavier McNally added 15.

Terence McDowell netted a Blue Raider high of 13 points, while Chance Makovec chipped in with 10.

Christian Alvarez scored 20 points to pace the Tide, which doubled their 14-points halftime lead with a 25-11 third quarter.

The winners also received 18 points from Davey Kunstek, while Jake Moyer led the Panthers with 13 points.

Weatherly cruised to a 42-2 win over Schuylkill Haven.

Silas Zink and Jaxon Dembrosi both scored nine points for the Wreckers, while Zachary Hayes added six.
