Fire quickly doused in Lansford home

A fire reportedly caused by an extension cord was extinguished quickly in Lansford Tuesday at about 1 p.m. before any serious damages occurred.

The incident was not without its anxious moments.

The call was to a residence in the 800 block of East Patterson Street. Initially it was reported to the Carbon County Telecommunications Center that there was entrapment.

Rushing to the scene were Lansford Borough Council President George Gilbert and police officer Joshua Tom.

Tom said Gilbert was first to reach the address and it was discovered all the people in the residence evacuated the dwelling safely.

Reportedly an individual who resides in the home is confined to a power wheelchair but managed to get outside the home by the time Gilbert, Tom and firefighters arrived.

The fire was extinguished before causing any serious damages.

Responding were firefighters from Lansford and Summit Hill, as well as fire police.

The firefighters and police remained on the scene for over a half hour.

No serious damage and there were no injuries in fire which broke out at home in the 800 block of East Patterson Street, Lansford, Tuesday afternoon.
