December 1, 2006 — Both Tamaqua swim teams open the season with solid wins, as the Blue Raiders sweep past Saucon Valley. Adrian Bumbulsky captures a pair of individual firsts as the girls register a 108-75 victory while Jim Gurcsik also records multiple wins as the boys triumph by a 106-76 score. Bumbulsky touches first in the 50 free (26.07) and 500 free (5:39.39) and also is a part of the winning 200 and 400 free relays. Tamaqua also receives firsts from Shellie Witcofsky (200 IM), Amanda Sandlin (diving), Alexa Griffiths (100 free) and Molly Frederick (100 breast). Gurcsik claims the 50 free (23.41) to set a new team record and also cops the 100 back (59.49). Jim Martin also turns in a first in diving.
