The Tamaqua Community Ambulance Association was awarded a loan of $91,150 to purchase a new ambulance.
The funding was allocated through the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Loan Program, which provides low interest loans for the acquisition, rehabilitation or improvement of apparatus, facilities and equipment for first responder organizations.
The receipt was announced recently by state Sen. David Argall, R-29, and state Rep. Jamie Barton, R-124.
“I’m thankful these highly competitive funds will support the efforts of local EMTs and paramedics to keep us safe,” Argall said. “This loan is well-deserved and will help our brave first responders with their critically important and dangerous jobs.”
“With so many of our EMS providers struggling financially, funds like these are vital to allow first responders to keep doing what they do best: save lives,” Barton added.
