State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• John M. Mitroka, 73, of Allentown, was injured in a motorcycle crash at 1:24 p.m. Aug. 28 on Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township.

They said he was driving a 2022 BMW motorcycle southbound when it struck a deer that attempted to cross the road in front of the vehicle. After the impact, Mitroka was thrown to the ground.

The cycle was removed from the scene.

• Nicholas C. Adamson, 26, of Kingston, had minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 8:54 p.m. Aug. 19 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.

They said he was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox northbound when it hit the back of a 2017 Ford F-350 operated by Jose Leon, 50, of Saylorsburg. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said the Equinox was towed from the scene, while the F-350 was driven from the scene.

Adamson was cited after the crash, according to police.

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 18 on State Road in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Miroslaw J. Fudro, 73, of Effort, was driving a 2017 Dodge Caravan that hit the back of a 2015 Subaru Outback driven by Maritza Rodriguez, 55, also of Effort.

Police said the Caravan had disabling damage, while the Outback had minor damage.

Fudro was cited after the crash, according to police.

• Police said a 75-year-old man from Harriman, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the scene of a motorcycle crash at 10:32 a.m. Aug. 20 on Interstate 80 westbound in Tobyhanna, but through their investigation ruled the death to be caused by natural causes.

He was operating a 2017 Harley-Davidson at the time.

• Calvin R. Rowe II, 33, of Albrightsville, had minor injuries after a one-vehicle crash at 3:56 a.m. Sept. 12 on Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township.

Police said he did not require an emergency medical services transport from the scene.

They said he was driving a 2009 Subaru when he failed to negotiate a curve, left the road and hit a tree. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Rowe was cited after the crash, according to police.

• Leonard G. Platcheck, 78, of Saylorsburg, had suspected minor injuries after he was struck by a vehicle at 5:50 p.m. Sept. 8 on White Church Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, Stroudsburg.

They said he was walking a bicycle up a hill when he was struck by a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek driven by Lily J. Saviet, 27, of Brodheadsville. Police said the sun was setting at the time, causing visibility/glare issued for westbound traffic.

Saviet was cited for driving with an expired or unregistered license, according to police.

• Three vehicles were damaged in a crash at 5:26 a.m. July 3 on Evergreen Hollow Road, Chestnuthill Township.

Police said a male driver of a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe was proceeding south when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The vehicle traveled onto the right shoulder of the road and struck a 2005 Toyota 4Runner that was legally parked, pushing it into a 2025 Volkswagen Jetta.

Police said the Santa Fe was towed from the scene.

They did not identify the driver or the owners of the vehicles involved in the crash.

• Two people were cited for Title 75 offenses following a hit-and-run crash at 2:44 p.m. Aug. 28 on Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said Megan Noble, 21, of Stroudsburg, and Michael Creft, 38, of East Stroudsburg, were cited after the incident.

Victims in the incident area 66-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman, both from Kunkletown.

Police said a Nissan Sentra and a 2001 Honda were involved in the crash at the intersection of Route 209 and New Brodheadsville Boulevard, Brodheadsville, after which both suspects provided false information to police.
