NL seniors personalize their parking spots

This year’s batch of Northern Lehigh High School seniors have literally left their marks on the campus they call home.

Seniors from Northern Lehigh High School’s Class of 2026 were recently given the opportunity to paint their parking spots to celebrate their final year.

By the time they were done, they had transformed the student lot into a kaleidoscopic spectacle complete with character, passion, enthusiasm and Bulldog school spirit.

The idea was spawned by seniors Emma Heil and Samantha Mack, who worked closely with Assistant Principal Dan Williams to bring their vision to life.

With support from the district’s Buildings and Grounds Committee along with the Northern Lehigh School Board, the student-oriented project came to fruition.

The students researched the process, gauged interest and developed a plan that ensured the painting could be done safely and responsibly.

Williams, who recently was appointed as the new Northern Lehigh Middle School principal beginning in October, played an important role in guiding the initiative.

The end result was palpable, as the artwork not only highlight the uniqueness of each student, but also reflects the sense of community within the senior class.

But it wasn’t just the students themselves who played a role in the project, as many family members pitched in to help not only their children, but all students involved.

“The project was well organized, fun and showed the spirit of our class while bringing us together one last time,” said senior Samantha Mack. “I’m grateful to all the staff who supported us, especially (high school Principal) Dr. (Lori) Bali for allowing this tradition and Mr. Williams, whose energy and guidance made our vision real.”

“Had an amazing time painting with my friends and classmates,” added senior Natalie Moffitt. “It was a great way to bring the senior class together for our last year. I definitely recommend for the future classes.”

Senior Olivia Schaeffer echoed both of her classmates’ sentiments.

“It was a good way for the seniors to bond together and for us to kick off our senior year,” Olivia said.

Olivia’s mother, Tiffany Rehrig-Schaeffer, added, “I think this was a great idea. It allowed seniors to unleash their creativity while bonding with their classmates, family and friends.”

This senior tradition is expected to carry forward in years to come.

After the Class of 2026 graduates in the spring, the painted spots will be covered with black paint, paving the way for the rising senior class to make their own mark in the fall.
