One last festival. One last goldfish.

An era is about to come to an end.

For the past 35 years, the Gruber family has proudly owned and operated Gruber’s Goldfish Stand.

What started as a simple carnival game became a family tradition filled with countless memories, smiling faces and generations of families stopping by to try their luck at winning a goldfish.

Unfortunately, due to health reasons, this year’s Palmerton Community Festival will mark the final year for Gruber’s Goldfish Stand.

“We cannot begin to thank our friends, customers, and the entire community enough for the incredible support you have shown our family throughout the past 35 years,” a post from the Gruber family states.

“Whether you stopped by every year or simply have a memory of winning a goldfish from us as a child, you have been a part of our story, and we are truly grateful.”

The post said that the family hopes people will join them one last time at this year’s festival for the final appearance of Gruber’s Goldfish Stand.

“While this chapter of our family’s story may be coming to a close, the fun isn’t going anywhere,” the post from the family said. “Gruber’s Wackyball Stand and Gruber’s Claw Machines will continue on, and we look forward to seeing familiar faces and making new memories for many years to come.”

The Gruber family then thanked their patrons “for 35 unforgettable years of memories, laughter, friendship, and support.”

Susie Arner, president/co-chair, praised the family for operating Gruber’s Goldfish Stand at the festival for all these years.

“Thank you to the Gruber Family for the outstanding community support, kindness and friendliness that you have given to the festival and all of the festivalgoers during your long tenure at the festival,” Arner said. “We are happy to have you continue to participate in the festival with your other two games.”
