The Schuylkill County Conservancy is presenting nature programs:
• An animal tracking walk will be held 12:30-1:30 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Frog Hollow Nature Area, 170 Stone Mountain Road, Friedensburg.
Join Brian Mohn for an educational walk through the scenic trails and creek beds of Frog Hollow and search for signs of local wildlife using clues like plants, soil, footprints, scat and geography.
Mohn is a member of the Pennsylvania Trappers Association and the Delaware Valley Fern and Wild Plant Society. He will also highlight native plants that wildlife either utilize or avoid, and share his insights as a licensed, responsible trapper.
The walk is free and will be held rain or shine. It is suitable for teens and adults. Please do not bring pets.
For more information, contact Jane Kruse at 570-628-4802.
• Mark your calendars for Walk in Penn’s Woods on Oct. 5.
The annual event invites individuals and families to explore Pennsylvania’s woodlands. It aims to promote awareness and appreciation of the state’s forests while providing a fun and educational experience. It was inspired by a desire to encourage people to connect with nature and has grown significantly since its inception in 2017, with numerous walks across the state.
In Schuylkill County, there will be three opportunities to tour three different forested properties. Details of the times and locations will be announced soon.
