Schuylkill Twp. trash fees to double in 2026
Garbage collection fees in Schuylkill Township will double in 2026.
Wednesday night the township supervisors set the new annual garbage collection rate at $420 per year, as compared to the $215 residents paid in 2025.
The new fee was based on the new, five-year, $1,027,610 garbage collection contract the supervisors approved last month with Tamaqua Transfer.
Township Secretary Ann Miller said the township billed 537 households in 2025, but 25 households are vacant. Another 19 are chronic non-payers, so the supervisors based the new fee on 500 households.
Later in the meeting, the supervisors said they will consider including the vacant homes, because sewer and water service are continued to those homes even though they are vacant.
The garbage bill will be assessed quarterly, as opposed to being paid in full in June, as in past years.
