Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:
• Police charged Joseph Annelo, 35, of Tamaqua, with driving under the influence of alcohol after a crash at the Five Points intersection at 11:33 p.m. May 19.
Police were dispatched to the crash at Broad and Center streets and spoke to Annelo, who said that a truck went through a red light and struck his vehicle.
While speaking to Annelo, police said they smelled alcohol. Angelo admitted to having two drinks before getting behind the wheel. He was given a series of field sobriety tests then taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus, where blood was drawn. Police said he had a 0.174 blood alcohol content.
The driver of the truck showed officers footage from her dashboard camera that showed Annelo’s vehicle failing to stop for a red traffic signal, according to police.
Annelo also faces charges of careless driving, failure to stop at red signal.
• Police charged Michael Hutcheon, 47, of Philadelphia, with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he came to the Tamaqua police station multiple times on June 14.
According to police, Hutcheon claimed that people were following him. But after calling a family member, police learned that Hutcheon had likely relapsed. Police said Hutcheon appeared paranoid and wanted to stay in the police lobby or be taken to jail. Officers told him that he would not be allowed to stay there all day and that they could not just take him to jail.
Hutcheon then approached a state police trooper at nearby gas pumps and told him that he had been drinking. He then asked police to shoot him, according to police. The trooper took Hutcheon into custody and he was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison on a parole violation.
• Valerie Clark, 48, of Lebanon, was taken into custody by police at 10:40 a.m. June 13 on a warrant from Lebanon County.
Police said Clark provided officers with a false name but police were able to obtain her real name.
