Monroe County crashes

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following crashes:

• Elmer M. Feller, 98, of Allentown, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:23 a.m. May 13 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.

They said he was driving a 2020 Honda northbound when it struck an attenuator, causing the car to overturn onto its driver’s side and slide into the southbound lane.

• The driver of a vehicle that crashed on Route 209 in Hamilton Township at 10:12 a.m. May 10 was injured. Police did not identify the driver or list a residence, but said the driver was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Stroudsburg.

The vehicle, police said, was northbound when it struck a guide rail in an inactive work zone, resulting in the vehicle being towed from the scene.

Police said the driver was cited after the crash.

• Richard P. Aponte, 33, of Emmaus, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 5:20 p.m. May 3 on Neola Road in Hamilton Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2024 Mercedes-Benz southbound when it traveled off the right shoulder and hit a utility pole and mailboxes.

Aponte showed indications of impairment, police said, and was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. He admitted to consuming alcohol.

He was taken into custody without incident and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Aponte was also cited after the crash, according to police.

• Juan Antiquera, 77, of Brooklyn, New York, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 2:36 p.m. April 8 on Pensyl Creek Road, Hamilton Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Pocono Campus, East Stroudsburg.

They said he was driving a 2025 Nissan westbound when he suffered a medical episode. The car left the westbound lane and struck an embankment, crossed both lanes and continued along the eastbound shoulder of the road, where it hit a tree. The vehicle had major damage, police said.
