State police at Bethlehem
State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:
• Police responded to a theft by deception incident at 12:26 p.m. March 28 on Rising Sun Road, North Whitehall Township.
They said Courtney Wright, 40, of Laurys Station, had $36,000 stolen from her after she deposited it in a Bitcoin machine.
• Nicole Henry, 45, of Slatington, was cited for retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Weis Market, Route 873, Schnecksville, at 1:43 p.m. April 10.
Police said it is alleged she stole items (doughnuts, chicken salad, ham, cheese, coffee creamer) valued at $34.92.
• Police were called to a theft by deception incident on Airport Road, Bethlehem.
The complainant told police that her 84-year-old mother from Germansville was the victim of a fraudulent incident that took place on Nov. 4, 2024.
• Police said a 28-year-old man from Northampton who fired a shotgun in his garage on NorBath Boulevard, East Allen Township, is facing charges.
The incident took place at 12:53 a.m. April 7. Police said they responded to the scene for a panic alarm and determined the man was under the influence of a controlled substance when he fired a shotgun through an interior door because he thought someone was in the garage.
He was taken into custody.
• Adam Sosa, 26, of Allentown, is facing charges of assault after police responded to a report of a shooting at 12:25 a.m. Feb. 26 on Welshtown Road, Washington Township.
Police said the victim of the incident is a 29-year-old man from Nicholson.
Police said through their investigation Sosa was identified and an arrest warrant was issued. They said he turned himself in two days later.
• A 15-year-old boy from Walnutport was cited for disorderly conduct after police responded to a physical altercation at 10:30 a.m. April 16 on NorBath Boulevard, Allen Township.
Police said he was the primary aggressor in an altercation that took place with a Danielsville boy, 17.
• Jesse Mutarelli, 47, of Slatington, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 9:06 p.m. April 21.
He was stopped in a 2017 Chevrolet Trax on Second Street in Slatington, after which he displayed signs of impairment and was administered standardized field sobriety tests, police said.
• Steven Merkel, 37, of Germansville, was cited for retail theft after police were called to the Weis Market, Route 873, North Whitehall Township, at 12:07 a.m. April 10.
Police said he was visually identified for failing to scan items on numerous dates from Jan. 19 to April 8. The items totaled $181.47, police said.
Police said through their investigation he was identified as the suspect.
